Hello everyone!
I learned to sew at an early age and I could frequently be found sewing or doing any number of craft activities when I was growing up. My Mum was always sewing clothes and somehow, unconsciously, I just absorbed this knowledge from her.
It wasn’t until two years ago, though that I dusted off my old sewing machine and set to work making a new wardrobe. I had been finding clothes shopping a dispiriting exercise where nothing fitted and I felt I wanted to break away from “fast fashion” and its wasteful and unethical practices. So, I decided to turn my back on clothes shopping completely and embrace a more sustainable wardrobe treasuring each item that I make or up-cycle from now on. What a challenge!
I’ll be posting a couple of times a week sharing my thoughts, successes and hiccups. Hope you’ll join me for the journey…….
