Sewing for life

Boho top

I’ve just been looking through my recent posts and it may give the impression that I haven’t been doing a lot of sewing recently. Actually, it’s more that I haven’t been writing up what I’ve been doing.

Recently, I’ve been sewing this loose fitting top, Butterick B5357. I actually made A, the short-sleeved version of this top last year. I was very happy with it and thought I’d have a go at C, the 3/4 sleeved version. It is really such a simple pattern and as I’d already used the pattern, a nice easy project for a change.

I bought some fantastic fabric from Calico for this. They don’t have a huge selection of dress fabrics, as it is a shop that is known for its soft furnishing and curtain fabrics. But those fabrics they do have for dress-making are wonderful. I chose this paisley print in brown. I think it reminds me of the seventies – all that brown! It is a cotton / silk mix and has a beautiful soft feel to it.
